David Dye, host of NPR's World Cafe
It's hard to believe, but NPR's World Cafe is turning 20 years old. The program of music and interviews, hosted by David Dye, airs each weeknight at 10 p.m. on WOUB's FM network.
"It feels like yesterday that the World Cafe® was just taking off," said Dye.
The program, produced at WXPN in Philadelphia, is planning a celebration with special programming in October, it's anniversary month. WXPN will also host a weekend of concert performances Oct. 28-30 at the station's studios and live venue called World Cafe Live Philadelphia.
In addition, the station is creating a limited-edition vinyl album, plus digital download, with 20 of the most memorable live music moments since the program began.
Listeners can also enter a drawing for a free trip to the celebration weekend, at XPN's web site.
