Going into the 2010 season the Trimble Tomcats had won the previous two TVC Hocking Championships and were favored to win another. However Wahama who was playing in just their first season in the conference spoiled their hopes at a 3-peat just two games into the season. The Tomcats did finish well enough for a playoff berth but lost in the opening round to Shadyside.

The 2011 Tomcats will have a tough road ahead. Coach Phil Faires feels that it is important to get the ball rolling earlier this season. “We’re going to have to come out ready to play. We would like to knockout those first 4 games to give us some confidence.” Said Faires. One tough challenge for Trimble will be replacing 4 year starting running back Tyler Dyla who was the school’s all time leading rusher. “Dyla is definitely going to be hard to replace. I think this year we are going to have a strong core of Wide Receivers and Running Backs.” Faires Said. Faires will have a tough decision though at whom he wants to command his offense.

Right now quarterbacks Justin Jewell and Connor Stanley are vowing for the position. “They are both taking strides Stanley is only a sophomore and he’s better runner however Jewell has a strong arm.” Faires Said. Trimble’s head man will like to have his quarterback set by time the team plays their 7 on 7’s and does not want to split snaps between the two during the season. The Tomcats open their season hosting the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes on August 27th.
