Parkersburg officials plan to preserve a collection of historic photos that include images of Amelia Earhart landing at a local airfield in 1936 and a flood in 1937.

The state Development Office awarded a $3,000 grant to the city to preserve the Paul Borrelli photo collection. Borelli has collected about 8,000 negatives of Parkersburg and the surrounding area.

Mayor Bob Newell says that the collection is the biggest single record of Parkersburg's history.

Other photos in the collection show John F. Kennedy's visit to Parkersburg in 1960 and a performance by John Phillip Sousa in the 1920s.
