The CEO of Sunpower says the Athens Company will continue to grow beyond its current 90 employees.
Rusty Jewett made the prediction yesterday at Sunpower's grand opening.
"Looking to our future, we have some growing opportunities," he said. "Our products are considered essential for several upcoming NASA missions. Energy, medicine and aerospace are each markets where we have a presence and we would like to grow our presence."
Sunpower has moved into a new facility at the State Side Technology Park, now too big for its old site on Mill Street.
Congressman Bill Johnson was on hand to congratulate the company.
Johnson praised Sunpower for its creativity and innovation.
Sunpower has "major contracts" with NASA Glenn Research Center and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company for production of cooling and power generation devices for use in deep space scientific exploration.
