As SEOAL teams move towards week three, only a week stands between the start up of conference play. For the majority of the conference, it is their last chance to prepare for the tough conference schedule that is ahead of them. With two weeks in the books, only two teams remain unbeaten: Jackson and Warren.  The Jackson Ironmen have not only kept a perfect record, they have also kept their opponents’ offenses out of the endzone in shutouts against Wellston and Waverly.

Behind Austin Osborne and Drew Ervin on offense, the Ironmen have also managed to score 84 points on opposing defenses.Warren hasn’t kept the goose egg up for their opponents, but their offense, lead by quarterback Dylan Leffingwell, has managed to put up 34 and 44 points respectively against Philo and Marietta. The Warriors and Ironmen will meet in Jackson on week five.

Gallia Academy, with a record of 1-1, would be the next team to give the SEOAL a run for its money. Despite a 15-7 loss to Athens in week one, Coach Mike Eddy will have the Devils ready to open up league play week six in Logan. Until then, Gallia has tough non-conference match ups with Wellston, Marietta and Ironton.

Logan, Portsmouth and Chillicothe will look at week three as a chance to get their season moving in the right direction. Entering the week at 0-2, these games will be crucial for these teams to gain confidence before beginning league play. Once SEOAL play begins, the record slate is wiped clean. All six teams can bring high levels of play to the table.

Jackson and Warren have jumped out as the early favorites with Gallia following closely behind, but if any of the winless teams find their groove, the fight for an SEOAL title will become very interesting.
