Parkersburg South suffered its first loss of the season tonight, falling 28-7 to Morgantown at the Erickson All-Sports Facility. The Mohigans took control midway through the first quarter, when Devin Filandino recovered a punt fumbled by the Patriots’ Braxton Johnson. That led to Mark Johnson throwing a one-yard touchdown pass to Jalan Thomas to open the scoring.

On Morgantown’s next possession, Evan Hamilton ran for a 15-yard touchdown to double the Mohigans’ advantage. Parkersburg South gained momentum on their ensuing drive, with Tyler Bolen completing a 19-yard pass to Braxton Johnson to take the Patriots inside the red zone for the first time. On the next play, Bolen connected with D’Andre Price for a 17-yard touchdown. Mark Johnson threw a second touchdown to Jalan Thomas with 37 seconds remaining in the first half, to send the Mohigans into halftime with a 21-7 lead.

Morgantown rushed for 332 yards as a team, with Conner Leone contributing 119 yards, while Johnson was 6-10 for 40 yards passing. Tyler Bolen was 7-16 for 64 yards passing, and Braxton Johnson had 75 total yards. Parkersburg South will stay at home next week with a contest against Musselman.
