The New Lexington Panthers balanced offense lead them to a 42-14 victory Friday night over the Philo Electrics. The Panthers were in control of the entire football game and never let up even the slightest bit to give the Electrics a chance.

Totaling 341 yards of the total offense, New Lexington balanced those yards with 176 yards coming on the ground and 165 yards coming through the air.  As “together” as things were looking for the Panthers in the first have offensively, they did have some flaws to be tuned up at the half being a fumble by Forman and an interception from Hook right at the half.

What really helped win the game for the Panthers was their dominance on defense. Although Philo did gain 220 total yards, only 51 of those yards came from the passing game. Philo only attempted to throw the ball four times in the first half and a total of ten times the entire game! That sure does help your Panther defense when they know that they are able to “load up the box” and stop the run.  With that said, Philo RB Kaleb Wiseman lead the rushing attack for the Electrics with 62 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 attempts.

As for the Panthers, QB KJ Hook lead the passing game with 162 yards on 9-of-15 passing, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception.  WR Gerald Spohn did his best Greg Jennings impression totaling 97 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns on only 4 receptions (that’s 24.25 yards/catch and a 1:2 touchdown to catch ratio, folks).  Another impressive Panther performance came from WR/DB TJ Abrams with 1 reception for 1 touchdown and a 99-yard pick-6!

Last night ‘s victory for New Lexington showed that they are serious in the MVL this year, and teams better watch out when they see them on their schedule. As for the Philo Electrics, they have much to improve on their passing game and can’t rely on the run so much when they’re facing good defenses.

Next week the New Lexington Panthers look to stay undefeated as the travel to Maysville and the Philo Electrics host Morgan when they will try to bounce back from Friday night’s loss.
