For the second week in a row, an Ohio Bobcat football player has received a MAC Player of the Week honor. This week, green and white kicker Matt Weller earns the recognition from the conference for his contributions to Ohio's 30-3 win over Gardner-Webb.
Weller was 3-of-4 on field goals against the Runnin' Bulldogs and went 3-of-3 on extra points, contributing 12 of the team's 30 points. The redshirt junior was good from 45-yards, 31-yards, and 24-yards, and his only miss was on a 53-yard attempt in the third quarter.
Weller has now made 35 total field goals in his career at Ohio and is just three shy of tying Kevin Kerr's record for most career field goals. The Twinsburg, Ohio native will have an opportunity to get closer to that career mark on Saturday when Marshall visits Peden Stadium for the 54th playing of the Battle for the Bell.
