Women’s Golf: Strong Day One Puts Ohio in Good Position

After a first round 310, Ohio Women’s Golf sits nine shots back in fourth place out of ten schools at the Cardinal Classic in Yorktown, IN.

Leading the way for Ohio were senior twins Meryl and Megan Weaver and sophomore Kara Brinkmann.  All three players shot 77 (+5) and are in a three-way tie for 13th.  Junior Sarah Tranelli is tied for 20th with a first round 79, and freshman Lauren Volz (84) is tied for 48th.

Tournament host Ball State (301) is tied for first with Southern Illinois (301). Indiana State (308) is in third.

The lowest score of the day was turned in by Ball State’s Chantelle Hefer (73). She is competing as an individual.
