Two Wellston firefighters are out of the hospital after being treated for injuries sustained while fighting a house fire Saturday.

The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the blaze that destroyed the home.

Firefighters were called at 7 p.m. to the home of Joshua Johnson and Amber Culberson and their children at 515 West Second Street.

Wellson Fire Department's Assistant Chief Ben Matthews says that it took over three hours to put the fire out.

He says the fire was out of control when they arrived.

"When we got there the house was pretty much fully involved. The fire was coming out of the front door and when we went to make entry we ended up having to back out and go defensive on the fire," says Matthews.

One occupant of the home was taken to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, along with the two firefighters, to be treated for their injuries.

None of the injuries were considered serious and all three were treated and released.
