Through the years, thousands of Ohio University students have trained for their future careers at WOUB Public Media. During Ohio University’s Homecoming weekend (Oct. 14 – 15) many will return to participate in special alumni programs.

Friday, Oct. 14

Alumni “Newswatch” – "Newswatch," a 30-minute live news program produced by OU students, will air a special alumni edition at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.

Returning alumni will present the evening news. This year we are pleased to have legendary NBA broadcaster Chuck Swirsky (BSC ’76), the play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Bulls, anchoring the sports desk. Other participants include: director: Steve Kurrent; news anchor: Shelli Dankoff; weather anchor: Ethan Huston; reporters: Joe Flanagan, Todd Baucher and Gabe Ross; camera: Brent McCoy, Becky Grasser, Robert Neustadt, Robin Potter; audio: Tom Housley and floor director: Cherie Housley.

All WOUB and Ohio University alumni are invited to view the live broadcast from the TV control room-viewing gallery.

Alumni Reception In Radio Studio A – Following the “Newswatch” broadcast, all returning WOUB alumni, and past staff members are invited to a casual reception.  Visiting guests are invited to meet and greet each other as well as current students and staff.  The reception will occur at 6:30 p.m. in Radio Studio A.

Homecoming Parade – WOUB is excited to have alumni participating as hosts for the homecoming parade. WOUB will stream the parade live on our website. If you are unable to attend the parade, enjoy the festivities by visiting woub.org. The parade begins at 10 a.m.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Fox Paw (A Social Blunder) Radio Show Reunion –  Fox Paw (A Social Blunder) was a radio comedy show broadcast on WOUB from 1977-1979. "Fox Paw" can claim the distinction of being the comedic career start for three nationally known comedians, including Michael McCarthy, an alumni of The Second City, and a former writer for Saturday Night Live and Sesame Street; Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) and Robert G. Lee who is the warm up comedian for the new ABC/Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing. Many of the Fox Paw cast and production members will reassemble and perform some of their classic sketches for a live audience. The event will take place in Radio Studio A from noon – 2 p.m. Seating is limited.

WOUB Alumni dinner and reception – Alumni are invited to attend a special dinner and reception hosted by the WOUB Alumni Society at the Ohio University Inn. An Italian buffet will be served and the cost is $30 per person. To RSVP and find additional information about the dinner.
