Ohio University traveled to the University at Buffalo with hopes of continuing its seven game winning streak.

Mission accomplished.

Ohio beat Buffalo in four sets – 25-27, 25-21, 25-22, 25-12 – to stay undefeated in the MAC.

Saturday’s first set was a point for point battle. Ohio was down 24-21, but managed to pull together at the last minute to tie Buffalo at 24-24, taking the set into overtime. Despite their fight, Buffalo won the set 27-25. That snapped Ohio’s 26-set conference win streak, a mark that extended all the way back to November 13, 2010.

In the second set, Ohio took an early lead. Buffalo quickly caught up at 7-7 to tie the game. Buffalo continued to keep the Bobcats from getting a lead until an attack error by Alessan Jovy-Heuser gave the Bobcats the momentum push ahead. From then on, Ohio maintained the lead. Ohio won the second set 25-21.

The third set started as another close game, but after a kill from Kelly Lamberti, the Bobcats took off running. Ohio gained a lead at 16-15, and although Buffalo fought back, it was never able to catch up. Ohio won their second set of the game 25-22.

The fourth set was dominated by the Bobcats. After starting off with an early 3-0 lead, Ohio never let Buffalo catch up. The Bobcats defeated Buffalo 25-12 in the final set of the match.

Kelly Lamberti showed her strength tonight as an all-around player, leading the Bobcats in kills with 16, as well as having the second-most digs.  Chelsea Bilger had only one more dig than Lamberti with 17.

Liz Scott led Buffalo in kills with 18, while Dani Reinert provided the team with an impressive 21 digs.

Ohio remains undefeated in the MAC after six conference games.  The Bobcats are 14-6 overall.
