After one day of golf at the MAC Preview, the Lady Bobcats sit in a tie for 10th place in the 14-team event.
Ohio, led by sophomore Kara Brinkmann, shot a collective opening round score of 324 and sits 19 strokes back of first place Eastern Michigan. Brinkmann shot the low round for the Lady Bobcats on the day with a 79 (+7).
For the tournament, Ohio has four golfers currently in the top-40. Following Brinkmann in the top-40 is Sarah Tranelli (80, +8), Julie Lechner (81, +9), and Meryl Weaver (82, +10).
The tournament’s host, Hawthorn’s Golf and Country Club, has proved to be a difficult test for all the teams in the tournament. No golfers shot under par on Monday, as the low score was a one-over (73).
Despite the tough opening round, the Lady Bobcats look to respond with a better finish on Tuesday.
Day two of the MAC Preview resumes on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
