A chilly fall night set the stage for an in conference battle between the Chillicothe Cavaliers and Warren Warriors. As the game kicked off, possessions went back and forth before Chillicothe could make a move. It was a fake punt and run by Chillicothe’s Zach Johnson that would lead to a big gain and give the cavaliers great field position. The drive progressed and was capped off by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Mathis to Zach Johnson to give the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead with 6:23 left in the first quarter.

Turnovers would sum up the rest of the half for both teams. Early on in the second quarter Warren’s Dylan Leffingwell threw an interception to Chillicothe’s Jalen Jones. The Cavaliers, motivated by the interception, looked to capitalize on the opportunity. However the drive would lead to another interception this time by Chillicothe’s Ryan Mathis. A fumble recovery by Warren and interception by Chillicothe would conclude the half keeping the score at 7-0 Chillicothe.

The halftime break would prove to be effective for both teams. Warren would come into the half and score right away to tie the game up 7-7. This game was no where near over as both Chillicothe, and Warren would score again making the score 15-13 Chillicothe. As the second half concluded Chillicothe would hold on to the 15-13 lead to get their first win of the season.

Overall, Warren was 15 for 31 with 77 total yards, two interceptions, and two rushing touchdowns. Chillicothe’s Ryan Mathis was six for 13, 79 yards, and two touchdowns.
