Athens Business Owner Dies In Licking County Car Accident

An Athens man is dead after authorities say his car landed in Beaver Run Creek in Licking County.
State Highway Patrol Investigators say Ramesh Patel, 66, drove off the right side of State Route 79, struck the guardrail, continued on and drove off the embankment of Beaver Run Creek.
It happened around 10 p.m. last night.
His car went airborne, landed in the creek, and drifted into the ditch under the road.
It was submerged and trapped.
Patel was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
He died early this morning.
Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
