The Ohio University Bobcats Men’s Basketball team is soaking up its win against Mercyhurst College Lakers today.

The ’Cats beat the Lakers 82-63 in the season’s first and only exhibition game, starting the year off on a positive note.

Junior Guard Walter Offutt, an Ohio State transfer, led the team with 23 points.

Junior Forward Ivo Baltic played the majority of the game with 30 minutes on the court.

From there Ohio cruised, going on a 22-5 run closing Mercyhurst out by 19 points.

Ohio Head Coach John Groce, says this game was a good chance for the Green and White to stretch their legs.

“We have had 32 practices.  We have had a scrimmage and now we have had an exhibition game. It gives us a chance to learn and keep getting better,” says Groce. “Our goal every year is to continue to get better and keep playing better basketball heading towards February and March. We always want to be that team that improves throughout the year.”

The Ohio Bobcats’ first regular season game will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

They will take on the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks.
