The mother of a jailed Ohio man says her son was a mentor to a teenager charged in a deadly robbery scheme in which police say victims were lured with bogus help-wanted ads on Craigslist.
Carol Beasley says that she spoke to her son Richard and she prays reports that he is a suspect is not true.
Richard Beasley was in jail on unrelated charges when police arrested two people in the robbery scheme. A 16-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder. The other person was expected to be charged.
A South Carolina man who responded to the bogus ad escaped after taking a bullet to the arm; a Florida man was found buried in a shallow grave in rural Ohio.
