Man Killed In Father-Son Hunting Accident

A 40-year-old man is dead after a tragic hunting accident Friday in Lawrence County.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office says Mark Bailey was killed during a hunting trip near his home.

Deputies received a call Bailey had been shot during a hunting trip with his 11-year-old son around 4:20 p.m.

"This appears to be a tragic accident our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family,” said Sheriff Jeff Lawless.

Bailey was taken to King's Daughters Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m.

It happened in the Pedro area.

Bailey suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper back.
