Fire investigators say an eastern Ohio insulation factory where nearly 100 people worked is a total loss.

The fire that started Sunday night collapsed the roof and destroyed the manufacturing plant at Janesville Acoustics in Newcomerstown.

Offices at the facility were damaged by smoke and water.

The state fire marshal's office says the fire was still smoldering late Monday afternoon, making it difficult to investigate how and where it started. Authorities have not given a damage estimate.

Newcomerstown fire department spokeswoman Heather Wells says employees who were at work when the fire broke out were able to get out safely.

Janesville Acoustics makes insulation for automobiles. The company says it's assessing the situation at the plant.
