Police say a southeastern Ohio man trying to free his stuck all-terrain vehicle during a New Year's Eve ride fell over a cliff shortly before midnight and died.
Hocking County sheriff's Capt. Jerrod Alford said Monday that Cody Martin was riding in a field that led to the cliff and slid backward over the edge as he tried to free the vehicle.
Alford says the 22-year-old man from Logan fell about 75 to 100 feet over the cliff near Gibisonville.
He was with another rider who saw the fall.
Alford says Martin's body was retrieved with the help of the Hocking Hills State Park rope rescue team.
