The Belpre Bureau of Motor Vehicles will be closing in June 2012.
Ohio Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lindsey Bohrer says the location's contract is set to expire this summer.
Bohrer says the office is closing because their numbers are falling short of expectations.
"A couple things went into it, one of the things being that they have been under with their transactions," Bohrer said. "They've been at about 27,000 transactions and we usually like them to be around 40,000."
Bohrer said that locations of other BMVs were considered when making this decision.
The closest locations to the Belpre BMV are the Marietta and Athens offices.
