Community members will have the opportunity to participate in an open coversation and debate about a controversial drilling practice at Marietta College later this month.
As part of the college's annual theme "Energy and Environment", the Office of Civic Engagement will hold a series about hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.
The series begins with a documentary of the film Gasland on January 26 and continues with a panel discussion January 31.
Panelists include Dr. Robert Chase, the college's chair for the petroleum engineering and geology department, Frank Leeper, a vice president for a Zanesville-based fracturing and acidizing services company, Paul Feezel, the founder of an organic farm and Dr. Richard Wittberg, the executive director for the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department.
