An inmate has escaped custody in Meigs County, Ohio.

According to Meigs County Sheriff Robert Beegle, David McDaniel, escaped from the Meigs County Jail Monday afternoon.

Beegle says that it happened during a shift change and there was a miscommunication about who was watching the inmates.

McDaniel was last seen running along 2nd Street in Pomeroy -- running toward a wooded area.

He was a suspect in several burglaries in the area.

Call 911 if you see McDaniel or have any information on his whereabouts.
