The president of Ashland Community and Technical College is stepping down after leading the college for the past 11 years.

According to a press release, Dr. Gregory Adkins announced his retirement effective June 30.

Adkins started at the college in 2001, serving as both the president of Ashland Community College and the Chief Executive Officer of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Ashland District. Adkins oversaw the consolidation of the community and technical colleges into one unit.

The Board of Directors will serve as the search committee for the new president.

Adkins says a new president will be chosen before he leaves in June. "There should be no need to identify an interim," said Adkins. "I plan to be in office on June 30 to meet with the incoming president."
