U.S. Senator Joe Manchin will meet with higher education officials to discuss whether students are prepared for college, whether they can afford it, along with and job-placement and workforce issues.
Manchin is scheduled to participate in a discussion Wednesday in Charleston at which he and college officials will discuss how to best train students and retrain workers for good-paying jobs.
The West Virginia Democrat said Tuesday in a release that although the nation is experiencing high unemployment, many companies aren't able to fill vacancies because workers lack the required job skills.
