OU Journalism Students Recognized By The Society Of Professional Journalists

Four Ohio University students have been selected to receive Region 4 Mark of Excellence awards by the Society of Professional Journalists.

Annually, the Society of Professional Journalists presents the Mark of Excellence Awards honoring the best in student journalism. The awards offer categories for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism. Entries are first judged on the regional level. First place regional winners advance to the national competition and are recognized at SPJ spring conferences. National winners will be showcased on spj.org.

Recognized students include:

Alex Stuckey, In-Depth Reporting-4 Year College/University, The Columbus Dispatch, "Domestic Silence Revisted"

Taylor Mirfendereski, Television General News Reporting, WOUB Public Media, "Athens County Residents Survive on Assistance"

Will Frasure, Sports Writing-4 Year College/University, The Post, "Fighting Back: Patience a necessary headache for safety"

John Nero, Editorial Writing-4 Year College/University, The Post, "Cloudy Vision, Apathetics, and Mineshafted"

The awards will be presented during the Mark of Excellence Luncheon at the upcoming Region 4 Spring Conference March 23-24 in Lansing, Michigan.
