A teacher and a fifth-grader at a southern Ohio school are warming hearts with their willingness to help a younger girl who suffered severe burns and scalp damage in a kitchen fire.
The story started with an idea from teacher Stacey Riber of Valley Elementary School in Lucasville. She brought together a student in need and one who could help.
Fifth-grader Madie Jarvis had been reluctant to cut her waist-length locks but decided to let a stylist trim her hair for the first time last week so a Westerville salon can use it to help make a wig for third-grader Kansas Waugh.
Kansas says she thinks the wig will help her feel more comfortable.
Madie says she feels like she did something good.
