The Gallia Meigs Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will have increased patrol for St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
According to a news release, arrests for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI) involving drug usage or trafficking are up for this year compared with last year's statistics.
All available troopers will be on patrol looking for intoxicated drivers.
The troopers have received training on detecting impairment caused by drug usage.
They say impairment will not be tolerated and they will be diligent in their pursuit to locate and arrest impaired drivers.
Motorists are encouraged to have a designated driver or use other means of travel instead of driving under the influence.
