Ohio EPA Looks For Public Feedback On Restoration Project

The Ohio Enivronmental Protection Agency (EPA) is asking for the public's feedback on 20 restoration projects taking place in Athens, Hocking and Perry counties.

The information session on May 8 at 6 p.m. will be discussing Monday Creek's water restoration project.

The meeting will be held in the Nelsonville City Hall Council Chambers at 211 Lake Hope Dr.

The projects are being proposed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Ohio EPA has obtained a Section 404 permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to be sure that they comply with Ohio's water quality standards.

The projects will span the across the 116 square-mile watershed.

The projects could affect 8,918 feet of streams and 1.5 acres of wetland.

An Ohio EPA spokeswoman says comments are welcome at the meeting and written statements can be sent in to dswcomments@epa.state.oh.us.

The Ohio EPA will take into consideration all feedback that comes in through May 15.
