Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park's opening is being pushed back while U.S. Coast Guard inspects repairs made to a sternwheeler.

The Island Belle takes visitors to and from the Ohio River island near Parkersburg. Blennerhassett was scheduled to open Saturday. Park officials tell media outlets that the opening is now tentatively set for May 9.

The park features a recreation of the mansion built by Irish aristocrat Harman Blennerhassett, who settled on the island in 1798.

Blennerhassett later was accused of plotting with Aaron Burr to establish an empire in the Southwest and fled the island.
