When it was announced earlier this week that Washington, D.C., hardcore legends Bad Brains had canceled their Nelsonville Music Festival appearance, one could almost hear the groans of disappointment from area music fans.
Fortunately, Stuart’s Opera House found another legendary group to fill their shoes.
It was announced today that Dayton, Ohio's Guided by Voices (GBV) will join the 2012 schedule, closing out the Friday night lineup.
GBV joins an impressive roster for the 8th annual festival, to be held May 18-20 at Robbins Crossing on the campus of Hocking College.
The weekend will feature over 50 bands on multiple stages, including Iron and Wine, Andrew Bird, M. Ward, Roky Erickson, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Todd Snider, The Lee Ranaldo Band, Dawes, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Jorma Kaukonen and many other national, regional and local bands.
In addition to the Friday-Sunday activities, Stuart's will host a special Festival Kickoff on Thursday, May 17 at 6 p.m. with live music, food, a beer garden and more.
