Nelsonville-based Rocky Brands recently rolled out its merchandise to the international community, but had to undergo a series of changes beforehand.

While the new customer base is small, the company has high hopes for future international sales.

The company recently launched e-commerce for its international components of the business.

Rocky Brands has now introduced 90 countries as well as foreign currencies for online sales to its websites.

Director of e-commerce for Rocky Brands Josh Carrico says going international was a natural progression.

"We're looking forward to growing our brand internationally and taking a small step with what we're doing today in furthering growing our brand recognition in those international countries, as well as opening the door to wholesale and gaining that brand recognition in those international countries," said Carrico.

Carrico says Rocky Brand has increased wholesales through partnering with the company, Fifty-One Global Ecommerce.

"The largest obstacle in selling international is taxes, currencies, and taxing and duty fees, so Fifty-One takes care of that for us. We've integrated with their systems to give us that technology to those consumers internationally to make it seamless and make it seem like a regular transaction in their country," said Carrico.

Rocky Brands includes outdoor, western and work wear from Rocky Boots, Georgia Boots, Durango Boots and Lehigh safety shoes.
