An Athens man is behind bars after a stabbing at Carriage Hill apartments.

24-year-old Davion Hamilton has been charged with felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

A news release says Athens police were called at 1:19 pm.

When they got on the scene, they found Joseph Papineau of Nelsonville had been cut with a knife.

Witnesses say Hamilton took off on foot, but police caught up with him at another apartment complex.

They took him into custody, and he's being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

The victim was life-flighted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
