Ohio University is planning a move to a vacant building in downtown Athens.

Officials are negotiating a lease for space in the old Woolworth building at 31 South Court Street.

The plan is to move several academic programs there from Lindley Hall and spend more than $4 million for "renovations and relocation."

Lindley is in need of immediate repairs and the building will be vacated to do them.

The university's trustees will be asked to approve the project at a meeting next week.

It's one of five construction projects on the agenda.

Among the list is a $2.5 million renovation of Bromley Hall to accommodate two of those Lindley Hall academic programs and $6.5 million to complete the renovations at Nelson Dining Hall

Another project up for approval: an $800,000 demolition of the Wolfe/Ullom apartments to prepare for new construction as part of OU's Housing Development Plan.
