Evan Shaw, award-winning videographer, is joining the staff of WOUB Public Media as Chief Videographer/Editor. He begins July 1.

He will have a dual appointment. Shaw also will remain in his position as Assistant Athletic Director of Multi-media Marketing for Ohio University Athletics.

At WOUB, Shaw will continue producing sports multimedia stories and documentaries such as Relentless: An Inside Look at Ohio Football.  He also will be managing non-sports documentary projects and supporting WOUB’s editing and videography needs. He also will continue his productions for Ohio Athletics.

To date, Shaw has garnered four regional Emmy’s and two Telly Awards for his work with the Bobcats. This year he is nominated for two more Emmy’s for the inaugural season of Relentless which premiered on WOUB and for sports photography.

Shaw also is a regular member of the videography crew for NFL Films.

“We are delighted to have Evan join us at WOUB,” said Tom Hodson, director and general manager of WOUB Public Media. “He has a brilliant talent for video story-telling.  He will add depth and experience to our already talented staff.  Our students also will get the benefit of working with a consummate professional.”

This joint appointment marks a partnership between Ohio Athletics and WOUB Public Media which will save resources but enhance opportunities for both entities.

“This will expand the capabilities of both entities and save resources at the same time,” Dan Hauser, senior associate athletic director for external operations, said.

Shaw is an Ohio University alumnus and a graduate of the WOUB student training program.

"I'm very excited for this new opportunity and for the chance to continue the strong partnership between WOUB and Ohio Athletics,” Shaw said.  “WOUB was an integral part of my time as a student at Ohio University, and I'm thrilled to have a chance to come back at this point in my career.”

“The opportunity to continue to produce content for Ohio Athletics and also to work on other projects with WOUB is truly a perfect scenario.  By combining the resources of the two departments we will be able to continue to provide fans of Ohio Athletics and all of Southeast Ohio with exceptional television and video content,” Shaw added.

While at WOUB, Shaw will be able to work with students from the Scripps College of Communication and expand their educational and co-curricular learning opportunities.

"Evan is a multiple award winning videographer and editor who understands storytelling,” Mark Brewer, chief content officer at WOUB Public Media said. “He was a top student when he participated in WOUB productions, and going through that process helps him understand the expectations we have in training current students. This is a positive move for the University, each department and the students as well."

Shaw’s first projects will include a feature documentary for WOUB-TV and the second season of Relentless which will air on WOUB and other commercial networks in August
