Residents Can Seek Shelter In Cooling Stations

Cooling stations are available to residents in Hocking County and Washington County.

In Hocking County, the shelter in Central Elementary School provides people food, beverage, movies, as well as games for kids. 
 
Organizers say people can stay there as long as they need. 
 
The Food Bank in the Community Action also offers people food during the daytime. 
 
Both of the places have air conditioners installed.
 
In Washington County, cooling stations are in New Matamoras, Belpre training center, and Little Hocking fire department. 
 
The county's Emergency Management Agency says if you have oxygen problems, call the sheriff office. 
 
The eastern part of the Hocking County and the outer county in Washington are still without power.
 
Other known cooling stations include:
 
– Athens County: Athens Recreation Center and Baker University Center, both during normal operating hours; Albany Fire Department; Amesville Fire Department; Coolville Fire Department; Glouster Fire Department; Jacksonville Fire Department; Rome Township Fire Department (water only available); The Plains Church of the Nazarene
 
– Tuscarawas County: Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, offering showers and cots
 
– Perry County: Crooksville High School, a Blue Med Tent is offering bottled water 
 
– Washington County: Marietta Family YMCA is offering shower free of charge to community members
