Divers in Wayne County, West Virginia recovered the body of a 21-year-old man late Monday night after he drowned in a lake at Beech Fork State Park.
Police say Evan Richard Ferguson swam outside of the roped off area at the beach around 4 p.m. and never came back up from underwater.
Four emergency responders began diving to search for Ferguson shortly after he disappeared, but were unable to find him until 9 p.m.
Witnesses at the beach also tried to help find Ferguson.
A member of the area fire department says there has not been a drowning in that end of the lake in nearly a decade.
