Two Fairfield County parents are the focus of an investigation by sheriff's deputies and Child Protective Services after they allegedly restrained their 4-year-old daughter in a homemade pen.

Sheriff Dave Phalen says his officers responded to a domestic violence complaint on July 10 at a home on Lancaster-Thornville Road in Pleasantville.

While there, the deputies saw a bunk bed with a steel mesh fence wrapped around the lower bed.

The contraption also had a screen door hook and sliding dead bolt.

Phalen says the pen was used to keep the girl confined to her bed.

Russell Terry, 34, and Jamie Curnell, 32, face felony charges of kidnapping and child endangerment.

Both are being held at the Fairfield County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Two children were home at the time: the 4-year-old girl and an 8 month old child.  The children have been placed with family by Child Protective Services.
