Athens police are looking for a man and a woman who may have information about the armed robbery of a gas station store Sunday.

According to a release from the police department, a man dressed in a ski mask entered the Speedway store on Richland Avenue around 3 a.m.

The eye holes in the ski mask were open wide enough for the clerk to see the suspect is a white male.

The man pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

The clerk put one of the register drawers in a plastic bag and the man got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police say surveillance video shows that within seconds of the suspect leaving the store, a man and a woman walk into the Speedway parking lot.

When they see the store is closed, they walk in the direction of the Chase Bank next door.

Police say the pair are not suspects in the case, but may have information useful to investigators. They appear to be young, possibly college-aged.

The suspect is between 5'10" and 6' tall and thinly built.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Athens Police Department at 740-592-3313.
