Another Bobcat is named to a preseason watch list, and this time it’s Ohio’s man under center. Tyler Tettleton was named to the 2012 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award watch list on Wednesday.  The Davey O’Brien Award is given each year to the nation’s best quarterback.

Tettleton had one of the best seasons in Ohio history. He set 12 single season records and became the first quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards in one season. He had 38 touchdowns on the year, and he rushed for ten of those touchdowns.

Earlier this summer, Tettleton was selected with 33 other players to be in the running for the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Quarterback Trophy. He was also the only junior selected as one of the four captains. Tettleton is also only one of four players from the MAC to be selected. The 34 quarterbacks are some of the nation’s best who were selected based on their performance last season.

It has been a busy preseason for the Bobcats in terms of watch lists. Three other Ohio football players were named to different lists. Matt Weller is on the watch list for the Lou Groza award while Travis Carrie will be looked at for the Jim Thorpe award and Eric Herman for the Lombardi award. Weller and defensive lineman Treymayne Scott were named the 2012 Football Perfornmance Awards list as well.

Ohio kicks off the season September 1. The Bobcats will take on Penn State in State College.
