A West Virginia man will not have to go to jail for causing a traffic accident that killed an Athens couple.

Rob O'Connor, 35, of Fairmont, pleaded no contest to two counts of vehicular homicide Tuesday in Athens County Municipal Court.

The Athens Messenger reports O'Connor was given a $1,000 fine and a two year driver's license suspension.

72-year-old Fred Hart and his 70-year-old wife, Mary, were killed about a year ago.

The accident happened on US 50 near Albany.
