Police Investigating Burned, Naked Woman Found On Road

UPDATE 1:08 P.M. Sheriff's deputies are looking for people they think may have information about a burned, naked woman found on a rural road in eastern Ohio over the weekend.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office said the 29-year-old Canton woman was found at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday by a passing motorist on a road north of Zanesville.
 
Muskingum County Sheriff Matthew Lutz said the woman was flown to the Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus with 4th-degree burns over most of her body. She also had been raped.
 
Lutz said the crime was not random.
 
Investigators located a crime scene in the woods nearby. A vehicle that may be connected to the crime was found in Canton, about 75 miles north.

 

Police are trying to find out what happened to a burned, naked woman found lying on a rural road in eastern Ohio over the weekend.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office said the injured woman was found at about 8:35 a.m. Sunday by a passing motorist on a road in Adamsville.
 
The woman was flown to the Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.
 
The sheriff's office has not released the cause or the nature of the burns. Her name hasn't been released yet, either.
 
Law enforcement officers spent Sunday exploring nearby fields for evidence that might explain how the woman got there.
