The Washington County Sheriff's Office is looking for a person they say tampered with an oil pump, spilling hundreds of gallons of crude oil.

The Stonebridge Operating Company reported Tuesday that the switches of an oil well pump in Adams Township had been damaged.

A sheriff's office spokesman says the operating company estimated a loss of about 12 to 14 barrels of oil.

An employee of the operating company says that the area around the tank was flooded with oil.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is requesting any citizen with information regarding the oil spill call the sheriff's office 740-376-7070.
