The Ohio Board of Trustees has approved a 6.3 percent pay increase for Ohio University President Roderick McDavis in addition to a 15 percent bonus.

The Buckeye Institute Higher Education salary database listed McDavis' salary in 2009 and 2010 as $380,000 dollars.

With the raise, McDavis' new salary will be more than $400,000 dollars.

The board also approved a 5-year contract for McDavis which went into effect this July.

According to a news release, McDavis' previous compensation was ranked 9th out of 10 public universities in Ohio.

A board chairman said the OU president's salary increase brings his pay to the same level as other university presidents in the state.

The chairman also said the raise was well-earned due to McDavis' hard work and dedication.

The board said McDavis' accomplishments have included increased undergraduate applications, upgrades to residence halls and implementing an effective budget.
