Three bomb threats at separate universities across the country prompted the office of State Homeland Security to notify Ohio University Police.

Late Friday afternoon, Ohio University's Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding sent an email to University officials asking them to be vigilant in the face of the threats.

The warning said the OUPD was informed of the threats at noon Friday.

The email was sent even though an investigation turned up no devices on those campuses.

Ohio University Police Chief Andrew Powers said it is not known whether those threats were connected but his department is continuing to monitor the sitation for changes.

"Any significant changes to this situation will be communicated via the most appropriate emergency communication systems," Powers said.

Golding's email included a reminder of the emergency communication sustmes in place to alert the campus of an emergency.
