A new pumping station will be constructed on State Route 681 in Meigs County to help improve water service in that area.

US Senator Sherrod Brown announced the project will be funded through a $185,000 Enivronmental Protection Agency grant.

The new above-ground station will replace an underground vault and improve water service for 750 households and 15 businesses.

Tuppers Plains Regional water's General Manager, Don Poole, says the pump will last 50 years instead of just 20 to 25 years.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2013.
