The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes and Wellston Rockets fought out a scrappy one at C.H. Jones Field, with the Buckeyes picking up a 33-6 victory.

N-Y looked to keep rolling and did so on the shoulders of Clint Handa who scored on a 14 yard scamper early in the first quarter. Player of the Year candidate Joey Young found his own time to shine on a 59-yard QB run for a touchdown that was setup by some great moves and outstanding blocking midway through the first quarter.

N-Y's defense made some great plays but they were overshadowed all night by a surplus of penalties.
Nelsonville-York and Wellston shattered an OHSAA record for most penalties in a game. It didn't take long for the fans to show their frustration with the penalties as the yellow laundry littered the field all night long.

Wellston trailed going into the locker room 14-0 but came into the second with a spark in their step. Birthday boy Noah Massie took the first play from scrimmage 71 yards to the house to cut the lead to 14-6 after a missed PAT.

Unfortunately that was the only life Wellston's offense showed all night. The Buckeyes followed up the Wellston touchdown run quickly by taking a punt back nearly 45 yard for a touchdown. N-Y’s defense didn’t let off the gas either, as they recovered a bad snap on a punt and scored on that as well.

The Buckeyes outplayed their penalties, as they were able to pick up the final victory 33-6. N-Y is now 5-2 on the year and plays Alexander at home in what looks to be an exciting Homecoming match-up. Wellston is now 2-5 and looks to bounce back at Meigs next week.
