Ahead of a weekend full of celebration and activity, Ohio University leaders launched a campaign known as "Party Legal".

The program was launched on October 1st and aims to reduce illegal, and unsafe partying.

OU Interim Dean of Students Jennifer Hall-Jones says this program is aimed at promoting overall safety for OU students and all Athens residents.

Hall-Jones says the "Party Legal" program conveys a positive message utilizing a series of posters which encourage safety, and include helpful tips.

This program is not intended to prevent partying, but simply encourage parties to be hosted smartly, civilly, and safely.

Hall-Jones says the message behind this campaign is encouraging individual responsibility, and at the same advocating a collective responsibility.

Hall-Jones says the OU and Athens communities need to be responsible and says OU students need to remember that "Bobcats take care of Bobcats".
