With the regular season in the books, it is now time to focus on the postseason. The OHSAA has released the final playoff computer rankings. The top eight in each region qualify for the playoffs. Five teams from the MVL, SEOAL, TVC-Hocking and TVC-Ohio will be playing in Week 11.

After finishing the season 10-0, Tri-Valley claimed the No. 1 seed in Division II, Region 7 for the first time in school history. Their first round opponent on Friday is the same one they faced last year in Dresden, No. 8 New Carlisle Tecumseh (7-3). The Scotties won the 2011 matchup with the Arrows 48-30 thanks to Austin Jones’ 308 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.

Maysville (9-1) finds themselves in the postseason for the first time ever, clinching the No. 6 seed in Division III, Region 11. They will travel to #3 Steubenville (8-2) on Saturday. Six of the Big Red’s opponents in the regular season were from out of state. Steubenville has a history of postseason success, winning back-to-back states titles in 2005 and 2006 and was state runner-up in 2008.

Following their second consecutive TVC-Ohio league championship, Athens (9-1) is the No. 3 seed in Division III, Region 12. The Bulldogs will host for the second year in a row and face No. 6 seed Circleville (6-4) on Saturday. Circleville experienced a big turnaround this season after finishing 2-8 in 2011. This is the first postseason appearance for the Tigers since 2007.

Right behind Athens in Region 12 is Gallia Academy (8-2). The SEOAL champs are the No. 4 seed and host No. 5 Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas (7-3) on Saturday. This is the first playoff appearance for the Blue Devils since 2006 and the first for Head Coach Mike Eddy. The Rockets were 2-8 last year, but reached the state semifinals in 2010.

Trimble (9-1) is in the postseason for the third consecutive year with the No. 3 seed in Division VI, Region 23 and host a home playoff game for the first time since 2008. Their opponent on Friday night will be No. 6 North Robinson Colonel Crawford (8-2). The Eagles are making their first playoff appearance in school history.

Two TVC teams, Nelsonville-York (7-3) and Eastern (6-4), finished ninth in their region and barely missed out on the postseason. The Buckeyes finished just 0.34 points behind Coal Grove Dawson-Bryant (6-3) in Division V, Region 19 following their loss to Athens. After a crazy week in which Eastern had to forfeit two wins, then had those wins returned, the Eagles were upset by Southern (4-6). The loss allowed Hannibal River (7-3) to jump the Eagles in the standings and claim the last playoff spot in the region.
