At least 268,000 customers are without power in West Virginia as superstorm Sandy buried parts of the state under more than a foot of snow.
Appalachian Power's website says 154,000 customers are without service in 19 counties. That includes 50,000 in Kanawha County, 13,000 in Fayette County, 11,000 in Raleigh County and 10,000 in Boone County.
FirstEnergy says 114,000 Mon Power and Potomac Edison customers had no electricity Tuesday evening in 39 counties. The hardest-hit counties are Preston with 17,000 outages, Randolph with 16,000 and Upshur with 10,000.
